Registration: Only one level per/event. Level II requires previous Level I, Level III requires previous Level I & II certification. $275.00

Level I & Level II & III Training

 

Monday, June 20, 2011

8:00 – 8:30 a.m.

Registration in Back of East Glacier Park Lodge. ALL Levels: I & II & III

8:30 a.m.

Opening and welcome: Host of ITGS

Prayer: Richard Horn (Blackfeet) Int. Traditional Games Society.

Introduction of participants.

9:30 a.m.

Opening of Blanket Ceremony & introduction to the history, culture, and events of the research, resurrection, and restoration of Plains Indian games to Montana tribes.

10:30 a.m.

Rotation: Games of skill, chance, and intuition.

Level I Field by pool

1.  Sticks in Fist (Intuition & probability) and Tie Up

2. Rock in Fist (observation & intuition) 

3. Dice Game (chance & observation) 

4. Guessing Sticks (estimation) & Guessing Rocks (estimation)

Level II Field by pool

1. Feather Darts (observation, knowledge of feathers, eye-hand coordination)

2. Tops (skill & knowledge of how tops work)

3. Arrow games & ball games.

Level III will be teaching Level I

11:45 a.m. Lunch on own

1:15 p.m.

Rotation: Games of Coordination, Dexterity, and Accuracy

Level I Shuffle Board area on lower grass field

1. Stone House (speed, coordination, dexterity, observation in patterns, and imagination) 2. Ring the Stick (manual dexterity & hand eye coordination)

3. Y- arrow game (throwing for accuracy) 

4. Hoop & Stake (throwing skill for accuracy)

Level II

1. Ring & Pin (manual dexterity & eye-hand coordination & other hand held games.

2:30 – 2:45 p.m. Break

2:45 p.m.

Rotation: Individual and Teams Sport games

Level I Outside

  1. Make the Stick Jump (Throwing skill for power and short distance accuracy)  
  2. Kickball Racing (speed & eye-foot coordination)
  3. Run & Scream (lung capacity & running ability) 
  4. Shinney 
  5. Doubleball  
  6. Single Pole Lacrosse

Level II Outside

1. Grass & Snow Snakes (Strength and throwing technique)

2. Atlatl Casing

3. Racket games and variations

 

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Dinner on own

6:30 p.m.– 8:00 p.m.  Evening sessions Inside Lodge
