This event is CLOSED - available exclusively for Billings Public School System employees with preference given to certified HPE teachers. Lunch is provided on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Dinner is individuals'  responsibility.

8:30 Opening and welcome: Host: Billings Public Schools Office of Indian Education.

Prayer: Richard Horn (Blackfeet) Int. Traditional Games Society. Introductions of participants.


9:30
Opening of Blanket Ceremony & introduction to the history, culture, and events of the research, resurrection, and restoration of Plains Indian games to Montana tribes.

10:30 Rotation: Games of skill, chance, and intuition.

In gymnasium: stations

Level I

1. Sticks in Fist (Intuition & probability) and Tie Up

2. Rock in Fist (observation & intuition) 3. Dice Game (chance & observation)

4. Guessing Sticks (estimation) & Guessing Rocks (estimation)

11:45 Lunch

1:15

Level I, 1. (speed, coordination, dexterity, observation in patterns, and imagination) 2. Ring the Stick (manual dexterity & hand eye coordination) and Y- arrow game (throwing for accuracy and 4. Hoop & Stake (throwing skill for accuracy).

2:30 – 2:45 Break

2:45 Outside:

Level I. . Make the Stick Jump (Throwing skill for power and short distance accuracy) Kickball Racing (speed & eye-foot coordination) and Run & Scream (lung capacity & running ability) Shinney .Doubleball Single Pole Lacrosse

8:30 to 11:45 Crafting


Level I Lunch room


11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Lunch

1:15 – 5:00 p.m. Finish Crafting (get instructor signature on finished craft items)


5:00 – Dinner hour - individuals are responsible for their own meal.


6:00 – 9:00 crafting on own at home if not finished.
